What is the difference between the MSME and MEM programs?
The MSME program consists of 24 credit hours of graduate level course work, plus six credits of Master's Thesis and student must meet the thesis requirements as outlined in the MSME degree program. The MEM program consists of 30 credit hours of graduate level course work and does not require a thesis. It will be possible to complete the MEM program taking courses in the late afternoon and early evening for part-time students.
What courses do I register for this year?
You should sign up for MEEG 690 in the fall.
You should also take at least two of the following four courses: MEEG 610 (fall), MEEG 620 (spring), MEEG 630 (fall), MEEG 640 (spring).
Ph.D. Students with a Master's Degree are not required to take these courses, but must know the material for the Qualifying Examination. If you choose to take these courses, they will not be applied to the Ph.D. course requirements.
As a Teaching Assistant, what will my responsibilities be?
Teaching Assistant assignments will be made in late August. You will work with a faculty member and your main duty will be to grade assignment papers. Graduate students do not usually teach classes. You will have office hours for undergraduate students to meet with you. A few hours each week will be spent maintaining web pages for faculty.

How do I sign up for insurance?
All students are required to carry health insurance. If you visited the Office of Foreign Students and Scholar Services or English Language Institute, you may have already received information about insurance. If you need an application or have questions, please contact Student Health Services in Laurel Hall.
Will I have an office?
Roger Stahl, Lab Coordinator, will be informed of your arrival. He will notify you when an office is assigned.
How do I get keys?
Graduate students may request keys from Nancy Bickings, 126 Spencer Lab. She can provide office and lab keys and a key to the building. A $20.00 deposit is required for each of these keys. She also has desk keys if there is not one in your desk drawer.
Do I have a mailbox?
Within a few days of your arrival, a mailbox will be set up for you in the lobby of 126 Spencer Lab.
Who do I contact about semester bills and payments?
The Cashier's Office is located in the Student Services Building. Please note that all students must submit a Fee Payment Form each semester, even if no payment is required due to financial assistance.
